Category: Day tripDetails:This is the second PSC New Members’ Event for the year. Join us for a pleasant paddle to explore this interesting location. We’ll paddle around the three interconnected “Great Lakes Quarries” within the Heritage Quarries Recreation Area (also called the Lemont Quarries). We’ll leave from the boat launch located at the western end of the Great Lakes Quarries. You must have your own boat and paddles, and your properly-fitting PFD must be worn at all times on the water. Bring lunch, drinking water, and a change of clothes, which you can leave in your car if you wish. We plan to hit the water about 10:00 AM for about 3 hours (more or less) of exploring, water games, and paddling practice. You can stay as long as you like. Bring a chair for the lunch break. The Lemont Heritage Quarries Recreation Area is just east of downtown Lemont; it is south of I-55 and west of Rt. 83. If you’re coming from Rt. 83, head west on Main St, turn north (R) onto Talcott Ave, cross the railroad tracks and take an immediate Right toward the park. From downtown Lemont, head east on Main St, turn north (L) on Talcott, cross the railroad tracks, and then take an immediate Right toward the park. Continue to the free public parking area for the boat launch which is shared with The Forge: Lemont Quarries adventure/ zip line park. Question? Call Joan at 630-832-3338.
