Prairie State Canoeists
A Northeast Illinois Canoe and Kayak Club
Date(s): November 3-11, 2019 Leader: Bob Tyler Co-Leader: Ed Nelson Location: Florida Skill Level: Advanced Beginner Category: Base Camping / Day trips Details: This trip has been a yearly event for more than 25 years. But its been a few years since it was listed as a Prairie State trip. This trip needs to be flexible so the rivers may change, as happened this past year when a hurricane changed the itinerary. Those attending can hope to see a great variety of birds, manatees, monkeys, and of course alligators. Some of these rivers are pretty wild others have a fair amount of housing along their banks. Bring your swim suit as we stop and swim in some of the springs we pass or paddle into. The participants will meet at Juniper Springs Recreation Area on November 3, and will paddle the following rivers.
