Date: April 9, 2016 Leader: Ray ZiemerCo-Leader: Steve LaPorteLocation: West Branch DuPage River, Upper Section Skill Level: Advanced Beginner Category: Soup Trip Details: Check here and in your email for updates a few days before, as log jams, water levels and weather always factor in. Directions to St. Charles Road Put-in for the West Branch DuPage River Take IL Rte. 64 North Avenue to the traffic signal at Prince Crossing Road – it’s a mile east of IL Rte. 59 or 8 miles west of I-355 or IL Rte 53. Turn north on Prince Crossing and travel one short block to St. Charles Rd.; head east to the bridge over the river. You can unload and launch on either side, upstream or downstream – all are equally muddy!
Don’t forget the soup! A can of some non-cream variety that will mix in the pot. Bring your own beverage, side dish, bowl and spoon.
The first part of the trip before lunch could take 1 ½ - 2 hours. It’s shallow for this time of the year, but we’ve done it at much lower levels. Just remember: Riffles got rocks. The afternoon paddle could take another 2 hours, depending on wind.
Looking forward to seeing you all for a great day on the river.
