Leader: Keith McClow
Co-Leader: Steve LaPorte
Location: Klein Creek and West Branch DuPage
Skill Level: Advanced Beginner, depending on conditions.
Category: Day Trip
Details: This trip starts on Klein Creek a small winding creek. Some parts have been undisturbed for thousands of years. It is a glimpse of what this area looked like long ago. There are great examples of meanders and a section on its way to becoming an oxbow. We will join the West Branch DuPage and paddle down to Mack Rd. passing a village site believed to be over 1,000 years old. The trip travels through 3 forest preserves.
This stretch of the river, depending on conditions, requires decent boat control skills and can be shallow. Plan to dress for the weather (whatever that might be). We will be observing the current COVID protocols, which means you should arrange your own car shuttle.
Car shuttle at 9:30 from the put-in. Call trip leaders for more information
