The river cleanup will be in Algonquin from Cornish Park to Fox River Shores. The land cleanup will be in Cornish Park and the surrounding areas.
For the paddler: 12:30 pm car shift (if you can't make the 12:30 car shift but can make the 2:00 launch we can bring you back from the take out and do a reverse car shift)
1:00 pm event starts with speakers, booths, and demos from organizations such as Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, Friends of the Fox, Sierra Club and IPC/Watertrail Keepers/PSC
2:00 pm clean up starts
-Land clean up in Cornish Park and surrounding areas
-Water cleanup from Cornish Park to Fox River Shores
General description of paddle route: Starts off very residential but does become more scenic with various parks along the way. Terrain varies from wooded to open prairie. Many types of birds can be spotted (turkey vultures, egret, hawks, cranes, herons, osprey, cormorants, ducks, etc.). The Fox River bike trail is along part of route on river left.
